Choosing a shower head: NZ outlets, pressure and mixers
A new shower head has to suit the outlet you have, so start with where yours is: in the ceiling, in the wall, or on a rail. Our five shower designs cover each, all in six finishes, with brass and 304 stainless steel bodies and WaterMark licence WM-022555 to AS/NZS 3662.
Ceiling and wall heads
The Lyon hangs 200 mm below a ceiling outlet on a ½″ BSP fitting; the Bordeaux curves out 384 mm from a wall outlet. Both carry a Ø250 mm head that flows at 8.0 L/min. A head that wide spreads the water over a larger area, so the spray feels gentler than a small head at the same flow.
Handheld shower head and rail set
The Versailles is a handheld shower head, 200 mm long, on a Ø55 mm wall outlet with a ½″ BSP connection. If you'd rather have it on a rail with an overhead head, the Corsica puts both on a 930 mm, Ø25 mm rail with a built-in diverter.
Shower mixer: NZ installs and the Cannes diverter
Every head needs a wall mixer to turn it on and set the temperature. The Cannes adds a diverter, so one lever runs two outlets, such as the Lyon overhead and the Versailles by hand; its body needs 55 to 85 mm of depth in the wall, so it goes in before the wall is lined. For a single outlet, the Milano wall mixer does the job.
Finishes
Every shower comes in antique brass, brushed brass, brushed nickel, brushed gunmetal, black and chrome. In a shower, brushed nickel hides water spots better than chrome and gunmetal better than black, which is worth weighing if your water is hard.
Pressure and fitting
All five work from 50 to 800 kPa. If the outlet is close to the ceiling, or you're unsure which arm suits it, send us a photo with the measurements. Choosing a shower compares rails, arms and mixers, and a matching tile insert shower drain finishes the floor.
Every product here has the same cover: 15 years on the body, 7 years on cartridges, valves and moving parts, 3 years on the finish and 2 years on washers, seals and O-rings (tapware warranty). Taps and showers must be installed by a licensed plumber, to the NZ Building Code (G12), for the warranty to apply.
