BEFORE YOU BUY

How to choose tapware

Four decisions, in the order your plumber and tiler will need them.

Pick the finish first

Every design comes in all six finishes, so choose the colour once and it carries through the room. Finishes explained.

Basin mixer or wall mixer

A wall mixer keeps the bench clear, but its body needs 45 to 70 mm in the wall and goes in before tiling. A basin mixer fits one 35 to 38 mm hole.

Check the spout height

Leave at least 50 mm between the basin rim and the underside of the spout. Which tap fits my basin?

Book a licensed plumber

Taps and showers are installed by a licensed plumber to the NZ Building Code (G12). The WaterMark licence numbers are on each product page.

Tapware questions

What should I look for in tapware?

The body metal, the cartridge and the certification. Ours have DZR brass bodies and Citec ceramic cartridges, and the five Lead Free models meet the NZ Building Code lead limit.

Which tapware finish should I choose?

Start with the room: chrome and brushed nickel stay quiet, black gives the most contrast against pale tiles, brushed and antique brass add warmth, and gunmetal sits between black and nickel. Every design comes in all six.

Do you need a plumber to install a mixer tap?

Yes. A licensed plumber installs taps and showers to the NZ Building Code (G12), and that is a condition of the warranty.

What are mixer taps?

Taps that blend hot and cold water through one lever instead of separate hot and cold taps. All of our basin, wall and kitchen taps work that way.

Can a tap like this be repaired?

The cartridge is the part that wears, and we supply replacements. Cartridges have a 7-year warranty; after that, contact us with your model and finish.

Tapware NZ: 24 designs, each in six finishes

We deliver our tapware NZ-wide free of charge, and the range is built to match: 24 designs, each made in antique brass, brushed brass, brushed nickel, brushed gunmetal, black and chrome. Because every design comes in every finish, the basin tap, shower, drain, towel rail and door handle can all be the same colour.

Luxury tapware: what you're paying for

"Luxury" should mean the parts you can't see. Our basin, wall and kitchen taps have DZR brass bodies and Citec ceramic cartridges; showers are brass and 304 stainless steel; accessories and door hardware are 304 stainless steel. The body carries a 15-year warranty, and we supply replacement cartridges when one wears.

Which mixer tap? NZ water pressure and fit

Every shower, and every mixer except one, works from 50 to 800 kPa. The Porto pull-out kitchen tap needs 150 to 500 kPa, so on a low-pressure hot water cylinder it isn't the right choice; low-pressure hot water and mixer taps explains what to check. Basin taps fit a Ø35–38 mm hole and kitchen taps a Ø35 mm hole, and Which tap fits my basin? sorts out the height.

Taps, NZ lead rules and installation

Five of our taps are certified under the Lead Free WaterMark scheme, which meets the NZ Building Code lead limit: the Vienna Short and Vienna Tall basin taps, the Milano wall mixer, the Milano wall spout and mixer, and the Como kitchen tap. Taps and showers are installed by a licensed plumber, to the NZ Building Code (G12).

Looking after the finish

All six finishes are cleaned the same way: warm soapy water, a soft cloth, then dry. Our antique brass doesn't tarnish, brushed nickel and gunmetal hide water spots better than chrome and black, and acid, chlorine and abrasives damage any of them; the finish care guide has the detail.

Shop by room or by finish

The range sits in seven groups: basin and wall mixers, kitchen mixers, showers, shower drains and basin wastes, towel rails and hooks, shower screen hinges and door handles. Tapware finishes explained compares the six finishes, and the tapware buying guide covers the other decisions, from spout reach to cartridges.

Every product here has the same cover: 15 years on the body, 7 years on cartridges, valves and moving parts, 3 years on the finish and 2 years on washers, seals and O-rings (tapware warranty). Taps and showers must be installed by a licensed plumber, to the NZ Building Code (G12), for the warranty to apply.
