COMPARE THE FINISHES

Brushed Nickel or another finish?

How brushed nickel compares with the finishes people usually look at next, and what it’s like to live with.

Brushed nickel or chrome?

Both are silver. Chrome is mirror-bright and cooler, and suits a crisp white bathroom. Brushed nickel is softer and slightly warmer, and hides fingerprints and water spots better. See chrome.

Brushed nickel or gunmetal?

Brushed gunmetal is a deep grey with the same brushed sheen, so it reads much darker. Pick nickel for a light, quiet room and gunmetal when you want the tapware to stand out a little. See gunmetal.

Looking after it

Wipe it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry it. Acid, chlorine and abrasive cleaners damage any finish, and that damage isn’t covered by the 3-year finish warranty.

Matching the whole room

Every design comes in brushed nickel, so the basin tap, shower, waste, towel rail and door handle can all match. The Valencia and Capri mirror frames come in brushed nickel too.

Brushed Nickel questions

Door hardware brushed nickel: is it any good?

Ours is 304 stainless steel under the finish, suits doors 30–42 mm thick with a 60 mm backset, and carries the same 15-year body warranty as our taps.

Is brushed nickel good for taps?

They are easy to live with, because fingerprints and water spots show less than on chrome. Underneath, they have DZR brass bodies and Citec ceramic cartridges.

Brushed nickel or chrome?

Both are silver. Chrome is mirror-bright and cooler; brushed nickel is softer, slightly warm and better at hiding water spots.

Can brushed nickel kitchen taps go on a stainless steel sink?

Yes. The Como and Porto fit a single Ø35 mm hole in a stainless steel sink or a benchtop.

Do brushed nickel taps tarnish?

Look after them and they keep their colour: warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry. Harsh cleaners damage the finish and aren't covered by the 3-year finish warranty.

Brushed nickel taps for a softer silver

Brushed nickel taps give you silver without chrome's shine: the brushed grain and slightly warm cast make fingerprints and water spots harder to see. It sits well with stone, warm whites and timber, and every one of our 24 designs is made in it.

Brushed nickel tapware for basin, wall and kitchen

Our brushed nickel tapware starts with the Vienna Short (75 mm under the spout) and Vienna Tall (200 mm) basin taps. The Milano wall spout and mixer needs 45 to 70 mm of wall depth, so it goes in before the wall is lined. For the kitchen, the Como swivels 360° and the Porto pulls out.

Showers and drains

The Corsica twin rail set stands 930 mm, and the Lyon and Bordeaux carry a 250 mm head from ceiling or wall. The Granada tile insert shower drain takes tiles up to 10 mm thick, and the Firenze bottle trap tidies a wall-hung basin.

Brushed nickel door handles

The Santorini lever, Prague privacy lock and Venezia butt hinge carry the finish from the bathroom to the bedrooms and hallway, all in 304 stainless steel.

Brushed nickel door lever handles: sizes

Lever and lock suit doors 30 to 42 mm thick with a 60 mm backset; the lever's roses are Ø53.5 mm. The hinge is 102 × 76 × 3 mm and sold individually. Brushed nickel on interior doors works with white, grey or timber, which makes it an easy finish to run through a whole house, and it hides fingerprints on a handle that is touched all day.

Care

Warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry; no acid, chlorine or abrasives. The brushed surface helps most in the shower, where water spots build up fastest. Tapware finishes explained compares it with chrome and gunmetal, and caring for tapware finishes lists the cleaners to avoid.

Accessories

The Provence 600 mm towel rail, Lille roll holder and Copenhagen hook are 304 stainless steel in the same finish, and the shower screen hinges and clamps suit 8 to 12 mm glass.

Every product here has the same cover: 15 years on the body, 7 years on cartridges, valves and moving parts, 3 years on the finish and 2 years on washers, seals and O-rings (tapware warranty). Taps and showers must be installed by a licensed plumber, to the NZ Building Code (G12), for the warranty to apply.
